HAIR AND BODY CARE
Dedicated Care: Macon Stylist Supports Veterans with Hair Loss

Source: 13WMAZ

Charlyn Harris transitioned into hair loss specialization upon witnessing clients grappling with hair loss during her time in hair school. With over two decades in the field, Harris has been dedicated to enhancing her clients' appearances.

Her journey began with her grandmother's influence, igniting a passion that has driven her career ever since. Based at The Beauty Parlor Salon and Boutique on Napier Avenue, Harris encounters diverse clients, such as Vontressa Salaam.

Salaam, an army veteran, shifted from dreadlocks due to thinning hair, initially attributing it to her busy lifestyle. Her hair loss journey began in 2019, initially dismissed as stress-related thinning.

Discovering Harris, a specialist in hair loss, Salaam hoped for a solution to her alopecia, seeking to regain fullness and manage her condition effectively.

Harris, committed to quality hair care and continual education in hair loss, pursued specialized training post-hair school. Certified and now a VA hospital hair vendor, she aims to aid veterans, often unaware of available services for hair loss.

Collaborating after consultation, Harris and Salaam worked to find a suitable style, ultimately selecting a wig that resonated with Salaam's self-image.

"I'll finally feel like myself again," Salaam expressed, relieved to find a practical solution amidst dermatological treatments. "I can check my scalp daily and confidently face the world."

On Tuesday evening, Vogue Club hosted an exclusive after-hours viewing of NAOMI: In Fashion at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum. As security ushered out the public, the museum quietly stirred back to life behind its Renaissance-style arches. Beneath the grand dome, preparations buzzed for over two hundred Vogue Club members and staff. Vogue Club, a private community uniting fashion enthusiasts and industry professionals, organized the event.

Despite the threat of mid-July showers, excitement buzzed through South Kensington's streets as guests hurried to the V&A. The allure? Unrestricted access to the blockbuster retrospective NAOMI: In Fashion, minus the usual crowds.

Doors opened to guests adorned in Naomi-inspired attire, a testament to her legendary runway career. Sipping citrus-mint drinks, they admired Campbell-inspired gowns on marble floors.

Under the rotunda chandelier, Vogue's Julia Hobbs welcomed attendees. She recounted her unexpected interview with Campbell for British Vogue, capturing the essence of the exhibition’s planning spanning six months.

Guests ventured into the exhibition, tracing Campbell's journey from childhood dreams to activism for diversity in fashion. Highlights included her iconic Dolce and Gabbana dress and advocacy in Vogue Italia's historic "Black issue."

The installation allowed Club members to step into Campbell's shoes, embodying her legacy on the runway. It was a night celebrating the life and impact of a global supermodel.
