A 2022 Military Medicine study points out that focusing solely on strength may neglect important aspects of readiness, such as flexibility, endurance, and job-specific performance. Flexibility training helps prevent injuries and improves resilience in demanding conditions. The study also suggests that the ACFT's strength-based tasks may not fully address the diverse physical needs of all soldiers, highlighting the need for assessments that consider gender differences and various aspects of fitness.
