Bro-Workout: Strength and Bonding in the Great Outdoors

Scott “Ferrari” Ingebretson was initially skeptical of F3 Nation’s “free workout for men” he found on Nextdoor. On his first day, while struggling to keep up, he was touched by the support of the group, who insisted, “We’re here for you.” This sense of camaraderie impressed him deeply, saying, “The support we give each other goes beyond friendship.”
Founded in 2011 in Charlotte, F3 Nation has grown globally, offering free, peer-led outdoor workouts open to all men. It emphasizes Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith, aiming to build leadership and community through supportive relationships.
Ryan Fear, a member of the Puget Sound chapter, started local groups in Mountlake Terrace and Edmonds. “Fitness is about working out together, Fellowship is about building relationships, and Faith is about community service,” he explains. Fear joined F3 Nation feeling lonely in Seattle and now values the strong support network he’s built, which helped him through moves and even cancer surgery.

Carrie Bradshaw's Couture Catastrophes: A Fashion Roadmap to Sex and the City’s Most Memorable Mistakes
Source: Vogue
This year’s Forces of Fashion, set for October 16, celebrates the evolution and impact of runway shows throughout history. In tribute, Vogue editors are reflecting on their favorite fictional fashion shows from movies and TV.
While I haven’t experienced the embarrassment of strutting in tiny Dolce & Gabbana panties among real models, Carrie Bradshaw has—at least on Sex and the City. In the season four episode "The Real Me," Carrie reluctantly agrees to model in a friend’s runway show featuring both professional models and “normals.” Despite her initial hesitation, the allure of free clothes and gentle persuasion win her over.
True to SATC style, the runway event is a perfect storm of awkwardness for Carrie: a mix of friends and industry folks in the audience, a last-minute wardrobe switch, and towering heels. The cherry on top? Heidi Klum walking right behind her. It all leads to Carrie’s dramatic fall, prompting Stanford Blatch to declare, “Oh my God, she’s fashion roadkill!”
But fear not! Carrie turns her stumble into a triumphant moment, choosing to embrace her mishap and finish her walk to the tune of Cheryl Lynn’s “Got To Be Real.” She reflects, “When real people fall down in life, they get right back up and keep on walking.”
Carrie’s fall is a mixed bag of emotions for me. On one hand, it’s heartening to see her resilience inspire her friends to tackle their own challenges. On the other, there’s a touch of schadenfreude akin to the satisfaction I get from watching shows like Girls or Veep, where the characters' struggles always seem to be worse than mine.

Flavor Flav is proving his support for athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics. After discus thrower Veronica Fraley expressed her financial struggles on social media, revealing she couldn’t afford her rent despite her imminent competition, Flavor Flav stepped in to help. He promptly offered to cover her rent for the month, replying to her post, “I gotchu,,, DM me and I’ll send payment TODAY so you don’t have to worry bout it TOMORROW.”
Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian also joined the effort, pledging to cover Fraley’s rent for the rest of the year and sharing a $7,760 payment, referencing his company, Seven Seven Six. Both Ohanian and Flavor Flav confirmed their contributions with screenshots of their transactions.
Fraley later clarified that her frustration was not with her school but with rules that limit her earning potential as a collegiate athlete. She expressed gratitude and asked for support in her upcoming competition.
