Mistakes to Miss: The Don'ts Of Skin Care You Wish You Knew Earlier!

Expert Insights on Avoiding Skincare Blunders for a Luminous, Age-Defying Look

We all dream of having skin that's absolutely radiant and flawless. But with new skincare stuff constantly popping up and a never-ending stream of skincare advice online, it's not always easy to nail down the perfect routine.

You know the basics – drink lots of water, get your beauty sleep, and wash your face – but what about all that stuff in between? The good news is, you don't have to break the bank on fancy treatments or pricey creams to get that stunning skin.

And that’s because we are about to share those golden nuggets of skincare wisdom, the tips and tricks that are simple yet transformative, the kind you’ll wish you had known sooner.

From debunking myths to unveiling budget-friendly secrets for that elusive, flawless skin, we're here to guide you through it all.

Don’t forget the neck!

We've learned some great beauty tips from content creator Amy Chang, and one thing we wish we knew earlier is that we should take care of our neck as much as our face. Our neck's skin ages faster, and it's thinner, so it takes a lot of wear and tear.

The sun and staring at our phones can speed up neck aging, as dermatologist Dendy Engelman mentioned. So, when we're putting stuff on our face, we should also do it for our neck. But be careful with exfoliating the neck because the skin there is thinner.

Don't forget, sunscreen isn't just for your face

We saw a picture in September of a woman who only put sunscreen on her face, and her neck suffered from sun damage. It made us realize that we need to be just as careful with the rest of our body.

Skin cancer can pop up anywhere, not just on your face. It often shows up on your back, legs, arms, and other sun-exposed areas. So, don't worry about looking forever young; use sunscreen for your overall health.

Don’t Skip The Moisture!

Who else used to avoid moisturizers because of oily skin? Well, it turns out, that might have made your skin dry, and it tried to overcompensate by making even more oil.

You might not need a heavy cream, but a moisturizer is a must. There are lots of light options like gel creams and lotions out there that are perfect for oily and acne-prone skin. If you don't like using lots of products, just go for a hydrating serum and finish it off with moisturizing sunscreen during the day.

Don't keep your razor in the bathroom

We often keep them in the shower for a quick shave before going out, but that might be causing more razor bumps.

Dermatologist Whitney Bowe suggests keeping razors in a dry place. Leaving a wet razor in the humid bathroom can make it rust and dull, leading to razor burn. Plus, it can transfer bacteria and cause infections. So, change your blades regularly and give them a good wipe after using them.

Wash your hands before doing anything.

A simple but important reminder: Wash your hands first! It's essential, especially if you have a comprehensive haircare routine and skincare regimen.

One key thing to remember is to apply oil-serums or face oils last in your skincare routine, as other products won't penetrate through them.

Neglecting this can result in product buildup that's not good for your skin. So, make it a habit to do your skincare before your haircare, and you may notice fewer breakouts.

Getting that amazing, flawless skin can be a bit tricky with all the advice out there. These easy tips will help you achieve the radiant skin you've been dreaming of. So, here's to your journey to healthier, happier skin – cheers!
