John Aprea, Star of ‘The Godfather,’ Dies at 83: Tributes Pour In for Beloved Actor
Source: HELLO! magazine
John Aprea, best known for his role as young Salvatore “Sal” Tessio in The Godfather Part II, passed away on August 5 at the age of 83 in Los Angeles. His manager, Will Levine, confirmed he died of natural causes, surrounded by family. Levine described Aprea as "an incredibly talented actor" and "one of the classiest guys" he knew. Born in Englewood, New Jersey, in 1941 to Italian immigrants, Aprea began his career with a role in the 1968 film Bullitt before his iconic part in The Godfather Part II. He also sought advice from Abe Vigoda, who played the older Tessio, prior to his role. In addition to his notable crime dramas, Aprea appeared in various soap operas.
